Dart Hockey

How to Play Dart Hockey, Exclusive to Dart'Agnan !

Quantity

The game of Dart Hockey was developed based on the actual NHL regulations.
Its fun and competitive nature makes it an exciting game for both friendly gatherings
and for those who prefer to form regular teams and play full seasons within an organized
league.

In Short
• You must be in possession of the puck to score a goal.
• You need to double the other player's score to steal the puck from them.
• Watch out for penalties!
• Even the best players can be neutralized!

The goal of the game

Just like in ice hockey, the objective is simply to score more goals than the opponent to
win the match. To achieve this, you must play three regular periods of "20 minutes"
each. Each appearance at the shooting line by two opposing players is counted as a
minute of play.

If there is a tie at the end of the three regular periods, you will have to play an additional
period. If the tie continues, the final outcome will be determined through a shootout.

Teams and Lineups

Once the two teams are formed, you must determine through a draw which team will be
the "Home" team and which team will be the "Visitor" team, unless the match is part of
a season and the placement of each team is predetermined.

Both teams must consist of an equal number of players.

The captain of the "Visitor" team determines their lineup first, while the captain of the
"Home" team will determine their lineup second, allowing them to match their chosen
players against the opposing team's players.

The lineups will remain unchanged until the end of the game, except during a shootout
where the order of players will be selected again by the captains of each team.

Game Progression and Scoring

The team that throws the darts first is said to be in possession of the puck or on the
offensive, while the team that throws second is on the defensive. The "Home" team
always starts the game in possession of the puck, thus on the offensive.

When the player in possession of the puck has thrown their three darts, the total points
they've scored are recorded on the score sheet. Subsequently, the player from the
opposing team, who is on the defensive, takes their turn to throw their three darts, and
the total points they've scored are also recorded on the score sheet.

If the offensive player's score is higher than that of the defensive player, the offensive
team scores a goal and retains possession of the puck.
If the defensive player's score is equal to or higher than that of the offensive player, no
goal is scored, and the offensive team retains possession of the puck.
However, if the defensive player's score is equal to or higher than double the score of
the offensive player, the defensive team gains possession of the puck, becoming the
offensive team in their turn.

Tricky Bull !

In order to always provide a chance for the defensive player to recover even when the
offensive player has a very high score, the Bullseye takes on the total value of the
offensive player's score when it's the defensive player's turn to throw their darts.

So, if the offensive player reaches a score of 160, the Bullseye will have a value of 160
for the defensive player.

Note that the Bullseye can never have a value lower than 50 points.

The Tricky Bull rule applies even during overtime periods as well as during shootouts.

Penalties

When a player throws outside the scoring area, they incur a two-minute penalty. This
means that for the next two minutes, their teammates will have to play with only two
darts instead of three.

When the opposing team scores a goal during a power play, the remaining time on the
penalty is canceled.

Penalties can overlap but never double up. Thus, the team with a numerical disadvantage
will never play with fewer than two darts.

Rebounds or Dart Falls

A dart that bounces off a pin delimiting the scoring area or falls to the ground from
within the scoring area is simply considered lost.

However, if a dart bounces or falls to the ground from outside the scoring area, the team
incurs a two minutes penalty.

Overtime period

An overtime period is necessary when the score is tied at the end of the three regular
periods.

In the regular season, the overtime period lasts for five minutes, and the order of starting
lineups must be maintained.

The overtime period is played with two darts for each player.

Penalties remain in effect and are played with three darts for the team on a power
play.

Shootout

If the score is still tied at the end of the overtime period, a shootout will determine the
winner.

The "Home" team decides which team will shoot first for the duration of the shootout. In
shootouts, players are not designated in advance. However, a player cannot be selected
for a second attempt until all their teammates have taken a shot.

The shootout is played with only one dart. There are no penalties allowed. There are
three mandatory "rounds," unless the same team wins both the first and second rounds,
thereby winning the game. Each round must be completed at all times.

In a shootout, the "goalie" player (who throws second) makes a save as soon as their
score equals or exceeds that of the offensive player. Otherwise, it's a goal!

In each round, the designated players take possession of the puck in turn against their
opponent, alternating between the player and goalie positions.

If there are still no winners after the initial three mandatory rounds, additional rounds
will be added until the tie is broken.

Fun above all else

Dart Hockey was designed to foster healthy competition among different teams and
players. Always remember that playing darts should be enjoyable and entertaining, and
each match should take place with the utmost respect and good sportsmanship.

Have a great game!
